Difference between "Ga が" and "wa は"

Asked 1 year ago

my boyfriend and I got into an arguement because he claims that the phrase "nihongo wa sukoshi omoshiroi desu" is wrong and that it is actually "nihongo ga". Is there a difference in meaning??

Know someone who might be able to answer this question?

hi there. the first one is correct. nihongo wa sukoshi omoshiroi desu. it indicates that japanese language is a little interesting. here, we want to emphasize the "nihongo" (as the subject) that it is a little interesting. nihongo ga is also correct. based on my research that I made, the particle ga used here shows that we are emphasizing the "sukoshi omoshiroi" . both are acceptable . hope this helps !
