What is the JLPT N5?
The JLPT N5 is the entry-level certification of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), administered twice yearly by the Japan Foundation. It tests your ability to understand basic Japanese used in everyday situations. Passing N5 demonstrates you can read hiragana, katakana, and around 100 basic kanji, understand simple sentences, and follow slow, clearly spoken Japanese.
